Northern Nevada Reflexology

       What is Reflexology ?

Reflexology is a therapeutic touch treatment used  to facilitate healing, improve circulation, promote relaxation and release tension from the body.

Reflexology is a science based on the  principle that reflexes in the hands and feet that correspond to all the  glands, organs and parts of the body.
When the specific reflex points are properly worked by a trained Certified Reflexologist,
the corresponding body part receives benefits.
The feet are a mirror image of the entire body.

What is a Reflexology Session Like?

You are in a softly lit room with soothing music, you lie comfortably, quietly on a massage table or

recliner chair with only your shoes and stockings removed.  As custom blended Stratos'Sphere essential oils are applied to your feet with relaxing strokes by Stephanie Tsanas , our Certified Reflexologist, you  begin to reach a relaxed state. Your feet receive light relaxing strokes, and then specific reflexology pressure and movements are applied to the reflexes in  your feet . Every area and system in your body starts to relax, and begins to heal.

        Is Reflexology New?
The Art  of Reflexology is an ancient healing technique over 5000 years old.

This hieroglyphic from 2330 B.C. shows hand and foot reflexology.

The first written reference to reflexology was found on the wall painting at Saqqara, Egypt in  the tomb of Ankhmahor (highest official after the Pharaoh of Egypt) and is known as the Physician's tomb.

    The Pharaoh said
"Please do not hurt me"
 and the Physician said

"I will work so you will praise me."

Reflexology as we know it today was first researched and developed by Eunice Ingham, the pioneer in this field.

Her first book, "Stories the Feet Can Tell"
was published  in 1938.
Her nephew, Dwight C. Byers, continues here work as Director of the International Institute of Reflexology.

The Ingham Method of Reflexology is the standard on a worldwide scale.

Is Reflexology Massage?

No. Both Reflexology and massage improve circulation and relax muscles, but only Reflexology works on all the body's systems. And Reflexology uses  different finger and thumb techniques.Reflexology also works on the energy fields of the body.

Reflexology and massage are two different modalities that involve the use of the hands to apply  their techniques. They both have the purpose to enhance the well being of the client, but they are different from each other.
Definitions
--Reflexology is the application of specific pressure to reflex points on the hands and feet.
-Massage is the systematic scientific manipulation of soft tissues of the body

Can  Relexology Make a Condition Worse?

No. It will not make any condition more acute. Reflexology helps nature to normalize body functions. You may experience a health reaction after a session, for example, a runny nose, slight headache, bowel movements, etc, that may only last for a day. This is your body cleaning out the toxins that have been released by the session. A series of Reflexology sessions relaxes  the stress that can affect your health. It is a safe, effective way to better health.

Who can have a Reflexology Session?

Because Reflexology is a gentle but effective treatment, anyone can have a session-- Small babies, children,

pregnant women, the elderly, the sick,
 and anyone who is  stressed.
It has been used in hospice care and in the treatment of the terminally ill to help bring a little relaxation to them.
